evinrude 6 hp pumpswater at idle only

i have a 6 hp Evinrude that has a new water pump (complete) it will pump water at idle and slow speed only. removed the head and checked all water passages . I also checked the motor coupling and it is okay not slipping. is it possible to be leaking at the feed tube from the water pump to the case housing ?? Any help would be appreciated !!!
 
Are you sure the copper tube is in the grommets on both ends ?-----What condition was the old impeller in ?---Any chance old impeller pieces are blocking water flow ?

replaced water pump and housing and lower mounting plate.feed tube is in both grommets and they look good. removed head and blew out all water ports and replaced head gasket.no rubber pieces came off the old impellor . the drive pin broke for the water pump so i replaced the drive pin and water pump at the same time.
 
Factory replacement parts or something else ?-----Test on a boat in the lake, perhaps too much exhaust in the water.-----Pumps were not designed to pump air.
 
Sounds like you're losing the water at the pump/water tube connection (just like I was). Check the little rubber boot and make sure there is no play when sliding it up the tube, or that it has not been pushed out of it housing on one side when you put the L.U. back in. Replace with new one if necessary.
Are you able to run the motor on muffs? If so do you see a flow of water coming out of mid section and increasing as you rev up the motor? That would confirm the leakage from the pump connection.
