Evinrude 55975c Drive problems

Put my Pontoon in the water after winterizing with oil change and fogger. Once in the water it fired right up, went into reverse well but moved slow, reverse was pinned, and it barely drove, as soon as I put in forward it died. Kept having to restart the motor, always fired up, would have to keep idle level up high to get it to engage in drive. When in drive it wouldn’t move at all all even when completely pinned, it would struggle and die again. I was able to manage to get it from the landing to my dock, by doing the above steps about 20 times. Now when I engage in either reverse or forward it dies unless I have idle lever cranked, which even still it doesn’t run normally.

Do the below test will "all" spark plugs removed.

Check compression... What are the psi readings of the individual cylinders?

Check spark ... The spark should jump a 7/16" air gap with a strong blue lightning like flame, a real SNAP! Does it? The 7/16" air gap is important!

If the two areas above being tested check out as they should... in all probability the carburetors have failed to winterize properly and have fouled. If so, remove clean, and rebuild as needed.
