Evinrude 50hp Mid 90bs locked in down tilt position

"Hi I have a major issue with one of the outboards , its an evinrude 50hp with a manual hydraulic tilt. The hydraulic has locked in the down position and the switch doesnt seem to be connected to the piston/rod. Is there any way to open the hydraulic when the engine is down? Or do I have to strip off the prop/bottom fin etc. I can get the exact make and model later when I get home, any advice would be extremely apprciated."

Thread ball conn onto cable,until cable retainer CAN JUST BE PULLED INTO ALIGNMENT WITH ANCHOR BLOCK ON STERN BRACKET,with ball conn pushed against ball....
straight outa the book for you...
this system,..is serviced as an assembly ONLY..no sep parts avail....
there is a cable nut,...MAKE SURE,..u do not unscrew valve body,..this unit either contains high press nitrogen,or high press oil...i am uncertain which,...unscrewing the valve body would have explosive hazards...evidently,this is no manual release..."
