Hey, I am working on a 1990 40hp VRO. I can get it to idle, but when in gear under load it won't go higher than 3,100RPM. VRO has been removed so is not that. Compression is ok, spark seems fine(jumps 3/8 inch gap) Checked over the carbs. seems to be working fine. Not running too lean cuz I tried choking while running and didn't make any change. I am not familliar with the link n sync procedure on this engine and it looks to have been messed with. Any help with this would be appreciated.

I will definately give that a try. Any other ideas for what to look at? outboard is not at my place and would be nice to have a few things to check at the same time. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am usually pretty good with outboards but this one sure has me stumped. Thanks!
