hello i am looking for help in identifying my outboard model number Be40balenm serial number g03040258 it also has U.S.A. stamped on the identification plate it has a pull cord to start it also what would i need to make it start electronically i may need a starter motor and solenoid i am not sure what else any help would be great thanks in advance

thank you for your reply i don't know if it has two carbs i will have a look and i will also check if the model number is correct i am located in southern ireland would that be a reason that why there may be a diffculty in identifying the model year even though it has U.S.A. stamped on the identifying plate thank you

That looks to be a 1992 model.------It will have 2 carburetors.----------Does the flywheel have a ring gear on it ?

thank you for the reply i think it has a ring gear on it will check and post as soon as the weather clears thank you for your reply

You will need the starter and a solenoid.-----------The rest depends on how you want to run it.----Are looking to run it with key start remote control or just a push button at the motor ?

Buying everything you need new is going to be " cost prohibitive " best bet is to find a blown-up donor motor to get what you need.----Controls / electric primer / solenoid / starter / charging system etc.------Then you will also have a lot of other spares as well.------Look for a motor from say 1988 to 1995----and maybe others.

I will post some photo's to-morrow if the weather clear's up thank's again for every person's interest and replies to my question's

not sure about the lighting plug or what it is to be honest,. or you may have a different meaning for it i might call it a glow plug or something like that. The way that u have spelt out the number's and letter's and explanation of their meaning look's correct would the m at the end of the model number refer to manual or rope or pull start also any idea if it is an easy job to add the starter motor and other bits to the engine does the fly wheel have to be changed as it has a ring gear fly wheel on it at the moment thanks in advance for any and all help

just looking at the model numbers they both seem to be the same weather it is an electric start or rope start does that make any difference when converting from rope start to electric start also where as my engine has a ba after the 40 the model numbers on the diagrams show an r for both diagrams. On my engine the place where the starter motor bolts onto the engine seem to be very clean as in where the two bolts hole's recieve the bolts for the starter motor i was just wondering is it possible that a starter was on it from new and was removed recently thank's again for your replies

your guess is correct it has a tiller handle and it has not got any power trim/tilt on it.It has to be given some choke (prime it manually) before it can be started as for a harness to connect to a battery i don't think there is i will post some photo's later thank's again for your help

OMC is the company that built Johnson and Evinrude motors before Bombardier ( BRP ) took over.--You appear to have the manual start commercial version.---------Despite the " hoopla " in the catalogue there is nothing heavy duty inside the powerhead.----It may have the bigger 3 cylinder lower unit with a special driveshaft to mate to the powerhead.

No difference in the starter motor,-It appears that you already have a throttle / shift control.---Likely already have a stop button at the controls.--So you need a start button and a push button for electric primer.-------------Some of this will be locally available.-----The big item you need is the starter and the electric primer.-----E-BAY is a good scource for those.-------If you could walk over I could help with that stuff, but that has not been done for a while.

thanks i have got a part number 0433212 but there seems to be two types with that part number one being remote electric start and the other being electric start

Depends on your budget and just exactly what you want to do.--Perhaps visit a dealer to get assistance here.-----You will need the electric primer for remote starting.----Have you used this outboard motor ? Is the motor in good condition ?

yes i have used this motor it takes a few pulls to get it started and when it is going it is quite purrs like a kitten the reason i am looking for the electric start option is for safety as where i use it is in fast flowing water and a boat can travel a distance in a short space of time and anything can happen if you have no control over it if it takes a few pulls to get it going

I've got the same motor and went through the same conversion. Try calling Fortuna Marine, in Fortuna CA - (707) 725-3880 Dean shipped me everything needed and it was an easy install. In my case I went with a push button starter rather than a key.

FAT Tires, I left a message for Dean already, but can you list what was in your conversion kit? I have the same motor, but mine is actually a 'de-mil' motor from the Marines. Exactly what is depicted here except that I am running a CDI ignition. I want a push button start also and was wondering what parts exactly I would need. I found a guy who has multiple scrap motors, some with elec start. I just want to make sure that I get everthing I need since he's about 5 states away..Starter, solenoid, harness I am assuming with a fuseable link installed? Then just a pushbutton and battery I would guess..Thanks, Chris.

The push button start has 2 wires that connect to the Solenoid.
