"I have the above [early 1960s'. model no not readable] with a piston through block. Thought about looking for another and using this a spares { also have Johnson RD 22 working }.Would it be worth the bother to go with my original idea or sell this as parts. The Big Twin Site has a good article on these. I do have time on my side to sit and wait. But from what i have read, if water enters the gear box there are big problems. I am in Australia and hence, may not be that common!. I hate culling things just because they are old. I would appreciate your thoughts."

"well my wife says im a pack rat when it comes to the possibility of using parts from junk, but you never know what you might need or run across in the future.

if you get a offer you cant refuse id say sell otherwise i would sit on it. with only a piston through the block you have a lot of good parts.........i used to work at a salvage yard and my boss liked to answer customers question "is it a good part?" with "sure its good its been road tested.""

"i'd say part it, solely c

"i'd say part it, solely cuz the electric shift is troublesome compared to manual, esp on ancient long-in-the-tooth engine. control box for electric is also harder to find if you don't already have one.
but if you do want to keep it, power heads for these are very common & cheap on fleebay et al...shipping will be your biggie."
