Hi, i'm looking to buy an old boat with a outboard evnirude 35HP 1959. The guy said that the only thing wrong with the engine is that he took off the shifter rod connector and it was missing. When he started it (on neutral because he couldn't shift it) i noticed that there were no water getting out of the water pump. Is the missing shifter rod would make that the water pump is not running or it's suppose to run anyway ?
