Evinrude 25hp Primer Solenoid

No matter how many times I press in the starter key, my primer solenoid only squirts once. Why won't it squirt every time I press in the key?

That is because it is NOT a pump.---It is an electric valve that opens when you push in the key.----Try your test with an assistant operating the manual pump.---------Try your test with the motor cranking over and the motor fuel pump providing the pressure.--------------Why the question ?-What is your motor doing / not doing ?

Thank you for responding so quickly. I'm having problems starting. It seams that one squirt is not enough. I remember last year it would squirt two or three times and then the motor would start right up. I seam to be loosing fuel line pressure. I have to squeeze the bulb every time I try to start again. When I squeeze the bulb till it's hard, then the solenoid will squirt.

Push the key in and hold it in while cranking it over.------That is the correct starting procedure.
