"I have an evinrude 25hp that

"I have an evinrude 25hp that runs ok when not in gear but has not enough power to get a small fishing boat to plane. It revs up pretty good when not in gear. I have cleaned and adjusted the carburetor, put new plugs in it, replaced the fuel pump and all the hoses and waterpump impeller. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks so much."
 
Is it a four or two stoke. If

Is it a four or two stoke. If it is a two stroke make sure you have the oil/gas mixture correct. Just a sugestion not entirely sure on that.

"Does it cut off or anything, when trying to plane, or is it just can't get off plane. Does it have a tiller handle i.e twist handle for the throttle. That cable could be out of adjustment."

"It was cutting out before I cleaned the carb up, now it just wont plane out. it does have the tiller handle, I will look at that cable next. I am going to a compression check too. Already changed gas, new gas with the right mix. Could it not be advancing enough? Thanks for the suggestions."

"1976 70hp Johnson, starts good, idles good, sometimes bogs at full throttle, won't always restart when warmed up. Plugs are new, took carb screws out and gas was clean. Smells to be running rich. Any suggestions? Thanks"

"If the carb is clean, keep working with the adjustments. My 25 Johnson was doing that. Cleaned carb and took me 5 hours to get the adjustments perfect after the mech put it back on. Runs like a champ. Adjust for wot first and then re-adjust idle mixture for the idle. Patience..."
