"I have a e25tecte short shaft motor and would like to interchange this lower unit and midsection on to a 25hp long shaft (same year). Would this be possible? Also what does the letter(e) at the end of the model number indicate, any information will be appreciated.
Thanks, Roy"

"The "E" at the end of

"The "E" at the end of the model number is of no importance, usually it's just a code of the factory run.

The lower unit question is somewhat confusing. Are you saying that you want to install a short shaft lower unit to a long shaft engine? If so, you simply need to switch the driveshafts.

Or are you saying that you want to use the short shaft lower unit with it's short driveshaft on the long shaft engine? If so, remove the 5" extension from the long shaft engine, then switch the water tube, shift connector or shift rod.

Or if I'm overlooking whatever it is that you want to do, since both engines are identical, you can switch anything between them that you desire."

Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your reply. What I was inquiring about, was taking a 20 inch long shaft motor and making it a 15 inch short shaft by using parts from a short shaft motor, same year. I was guessing that the midsection- shaft-lower unit would have to be changed.
Thanks, Roy"
