Hi guys, first of all i want to say sorry for My bad english, i hope you Will understand me.
i bought a boat With a evinrude 25hp 1976 motor of My friend for a little prodjekt. I have never repaired a outboard motor before, so i accepted this challenge.
when i bought the motor he had the problem that after 1-2 hours the motor died and he didn't get it to start again. But when he come home he could start it in a trash can.
I was out and tested it and after about 5-10 min it died and i checked the sparkplugs and it was a spark but not so good one.
i changed the hole ignition system, new sparkplugs, new ignition coils ( the 2 outside of the flywheel and 1 inside the flywheel) , 2 new condensers and 2 new "breaker points". Now i had a fantastic spark and the motor started and worked great at home in a trash can. At the lake it worked great at low speed but when i accelerate it just goes up to about maybe 50% then the rpm dont goes up more. Somtimes it "jumps" ( the rpm goes up and then down) and sometimes it actualy goes up in full speed and when it does it works fine until i let the speed goes down again then it is the same.
It goes up in high rpm without gear and in reverse it also goes up in high rpm at least more than in forward.
I can say that too, when i have get it to go in full speed and when i slow down it's little jumpy, almost as it missfireing just before it's starts to run great again at low speed. I also have noticed that little black oil comes out from some of the holes over the gearcase.
I have bought a carburater repar kit and changed the parts and i have clean the carb, the throttle in carb works fine and the compressure test shows 125 psi vs 123 psi.
Now i am stuck and dont have any ideas left. Can someone help me with this please?
