Hello Gentlemen,

I purchased an older bass boat earlier this year. It came with a 1988 Evinrude XP150.

I've run it several times a week since I have purchased it. I've never owned a boat before and this thing screams to me. I hit 53 MPH/5400 RPM on GPS with a turbo jack plate, my brother, and all of our gear/gas on Sunday night. Monday morning it was sitting next to the dock and I was warming up the motor, we were going fishing before going to work. All of a sudden it just died. I went to try and start it but it didn't start. We've heard no rattling of any kind to date, and we come from a Dirt Bike/ATV Racing background.

Now on the right hand side of the bulb, the fuel line was empty, the left hand side was hard. The bulb was hard. So I pumped it. I hit the starter and it fired up for a moment(1 second maybe) then it died immediately. I went back and pumped the bulb and the bulb/primer burst. So I installed a new fuel bulb and fuel filter. I have fuel to the filter. The engine will now only start up for 0.5 seconds and then die.

I have the two 438559 fuel pumps in line, the VRO2 is gone. I do pre-mix all my gas.

The tether/kill cord is installed, the cap is cracked on the gas tank, the bulb/primer squeezes in and out easily, the spark plugs look fine. I am lost.

It did rain for two days straight while sitting at the dock without a cover. I'm thinking this may have something to do with it. The bilge pumped water out for roughly 5 minutes.

Can someone help me?
