I'm thinking of getting this model, but there seems to be some questions about the fuel injection on this particular model.
Some people ditch the auto lube and say it's a safer bet.
Apparently, later models with the VRO don't have the same problems.
I'll be using the boat for sea fishing,so reliability is crucial,(as we all know)
Also, could I run the starter motor on a seperate switch/button?
Any info will be gratefully recieved "V"

There are many things to consider on a near 30 year old motor to be " reliable /offshore ready ".-----What else are you gong to inspect and check on this motor ????-----Short shaft would suggest a small boat with a 15" transom.----Not something I would take out to sea.

The boat is a Broome Gemini speedboat (14ft)it's has a splashwell and I have used it in the sea with a 1964 18hp Evinrude.
The Vro,although a short shaft,has a 17" leg.My transom was15",but I have raised it 2".
I have a 5hp Yamaha as a kicker motor.
I stay inshore fishing.
With being a bit long in the tooth an electric start will be handy.
The seller wants £850(UK)for it.

A short shaft motor is for a 15 inch transom. Many folks mis-understand the concept of long / short shaft and how it is measured !!
