Hope someone can help

have dropped the lower unit and taken all the bolts out to seperate top end from mid-section
everything seems to be loose & free
but I don't know how to take the plastic throttle rod which drives the gear to the handle
have removed handle & gear which is on housing side don't know how to remove the plastic rod between throttle control attched to the engine and outer housing

this is all in an effort to replace the water supply copper tube

the end that goes into the pump is a little bitten up (the water tube)"
