evinrude 18 fastwin foaming

i recently purchased a boat with a evinrude 18 fastwin
it runs great but has foam comeing out of what i think is the exhaust
about half way up the shaft? it smells like mix fuel.
i put new plugs in i was told the gap was 30ths is this correct.
iwas also told the mix ratio is 50/1.I beleive the motor # is 18802m.

Hi Jim, I'm just across the bay. Bring 'er over and we'll check it out. Pressure test lower unit for starters and go from there. Thanks Tim

It's probably unburnt oil mixed with water. It turns kind of grey and thick. If the motor has a lot of carbon buildup, It can be black thick goo. Scare's the heck out of most people. )))

Lower unit checked out ok and this motor has been extended to longshaft. The impeller is really weak and I will replace it for Jim. There are provisions for a tube to enclose the driveshaft between the upper and lower unit on this motor. Do you think that would help any? This is a really pristine 18. Thanks Tim
