"Hello everyone; I hope that someone on this board can help me out. Let me start out by saying that I have absolutely no experience with boat motors. I have inherited a 1985 150HP Evinrude outboard motor. It has trim and tilt, electric start and a 20" shaft (according to the model number). It has not run for about 10 years, but was running fine at that time. I don't know how many hours the engine has on it, but I suspect not too many. It has all of the control linkages and cables. I would like to sell the motor, but I have no idea what it might be worth.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bob"

"At a minimum, the gearlube should be changed, and the carburetors will require removing, cleaning, and rebuilding.

Check the compression, and with the spark plugs removed.... check the spark which should jump a 7/16" gap.
