Andrew... The decal scheme on

Andrew... The decal scheme on the hood pictured did not exist until 1989. The latest picture I have on hand is the 1990 series which looks to me to be identical to the 1989 series.

I was told my engine was a 89

I was told my engine was a 89 also (same cowling) by the previous crook sorry owner turns out to be a 87..

Forthcoming???!!!!! Just pla

Forthcoming???!!!!! Just plain weird.

It's all in the details...
1989 or later.

Detail is the trim tilt switch on the lower cowl which started in 1989.

Like GOD just said its a 1989!

Like GOD just said its a 1989! Don't bet the farm on it ..
Like I said many times over a man can be a fool and be led all is life and not know it ..NOT ME !
You MUST properly identify a engine by its internal parts and NOT a cowling .Answer this Doug will a 89 cowling NOT fit on a 87 ? Look at my previous post when I was learning and posted a simple question on correct size of carbs on a 87 NOT one single response ..Goes to show ya take it all with a grain of salt !Where were you then know it all Doug out drinking beer?

"Andrew, Doug,

"Andrew, Doug,
Let's put out the flame war ok?

It's possible the cowl was changed, but since the cowl paint matches the lower cover a change is not apparent. The cowl is often a good place to start since they were changed every year or two. If someone changed the powerhead, it's paint wouldnt match. Not foolproof, but a good place to start. The cross flow V4 really didnt change much under the cover after about 1987."

"My wife has resized these pics hope they help until I get some time over the weekend to get carb numbers.

"Whoooeeeee...

Got him going with a four word sentence....
No, guys, I am sorry, but I just CANNOT stand or tolerate a BSer. And Andrew is just that. Not only BS, but I have read all of his posts, and I have caught him in a few lies too.
And that is precisely what angers me most.
I will call out a BSer and liar any day.
(And before anyone challenges me to provide proof, I have it, don't ever doubt that I have it)

He provides NO value add to ANY forum participants with his inane posts.

I am a truthful person and I am just telling it like it is, when no one else on this board will.
Just polite silence. Political correctness.

I have made my share of incorrect posts, and in every instance, I have apologized in writing for leading the OP down the wrong path. NOT ONCE has Andrew EVER posted a retraction or apology for posting his crap. NOT ONCE. He even goes as far as defending his wrong post, just like he is trying to do in this post.

Now, on the flip side, I would not care ONE BIT if he posted and asked questions to learn. I would never say a word if he was posting to have his questions answered. But to continue to post so called answers that seem to originate from another planet and have NO TECHNICAL MERIT AT ALL...that is just not acceptable.

If no one calls him out on it...what then....????
How many people needing real, accurate advice will be sent down the "replace the stator" path?
Run out of gas????, "simply look under the flywheel, and it will be obvious. Replace the stator".
It is always "simple and obvious, so simple a cave man can do it. Oooppps...I meant a bulldozer mechanic..." Right Andrew?

Anyone reading Andrew's posts will know EXACTLY what I mean by those last statements.

Sorry to disrupt this thread but maybe by saying this, some of you will understand the root cause of this, what was it dcramer? "fire war".

OOOPPPS...10:00 am...beer thirty!!!!"

There's a well known sayin

There's a well known saying that should be strongly considered here before the host steps in.

Compliment publicly.

Criticize privately.

"Yes, Joe, I know. You are ab

"Yes, Joe, I know. You are absolutely right.
And even when everything I have said above is true, I will be considered the bad guy.

So be it."

"Joe you are correct, You have

"Joe you are correct, You have to see the private crap he sends me.
He is a BULLY I have seen him do this same crap to others on here, he even make smart comments to the person seeking his help all in one sentence.
As for the "lies" he mentioned in this post my question is where did I ?
All I am saying again is you DO not identify a motor by its cowling.
If you think fixing Outboard is rocket science may the force be with you.
I will continue to provide FREE and honest opinion just like anyone here and not be intimated by your dumb comments.
As for been kid growing up on a farm as "Bulldozer" helper or owner is my pride every time I look around my Office, My credentials and 25 plus years in the field as a computer engineer I never will loose sight where I came from and where I am going thank you . Trust me I have met my fair shake of bullies like you.
In closing I hope we meet one day."

"I will have to respond.

"I will have to respond.
First of all, I have NEVER, not once, corresponded or sent anything to Andrew privately. No e-mails, nothing. All criticism is in public, on this forum or over on IBoats.com where he does the same crap under the name nymack66.
So where he gets this..."You have to see the private crap he sends me" ...I have no clue.
Only two posters on this forum have earned what Andrew calls bullying.
Andrew himself, and some guy from Canada that went off on both me and JWB.

As I said before, I have absolute proof of his lies. He lied about his blown up 140. And I have the proof, from his own posts. Look at the posts...it is always someone elses fault with Andrew. Even this post...he refers to the previous owner of his motor as a crook. Always someone elses fault. His blown up 140, "a previous error in rebuild." HAH. He ran it with no oil in the gas, and blamed it on the previous owner. I went back a few minutes ago and re-read the posts just to be sure.

I never said fixing outboards is "rocket science". It is in fact much more difficult than you would lead us to believe with your "simply this, simply that, it is obvious, etc., etc." platitudes. I have never, ever heard anyone spout ridiculous platitudes like you do. Here is one he posted in this very thread..
"Like I said many times over a man can be a fool and be led all is life and not know it ..NOT ME !"
What the h*ll does that even mean??????
No one cares about your platitudes.

And it is NOT ALWAYS THE STATOR.

As far as Joe's comment regarding the moderator stepping in, he should have long ago, and prevented Andrew from polluting the knowledgebase of good info on this forum with his crap, drivel, and inaccurate posts. That is a good term..."polluting the knowledgebase." I like that one...

As for you providing "free and honest opinion", keep it up. When you post crap and drivel, when you pollute, I will call you on it.

All I am doing is openly saying what many, many others here are silently thinking.

And again I state, just because I have the balls to say this publicly, I will be considered the bad guy.

So be it."
