"I learned a lot in the last few weeks about loopers for OMC units 1985 to 1991
there are 2 basic versions and 2 drive shaft lengths. The longer is around 25" depending on where you measure from. the shorter and more common is 20".
Both drive shafts have 20 Splines.
The prop shafts are where it gets interisting
one version has 13 splines and and a
3 5/8" diameter prop shaft hub the larger has 15 splines and a 4 5/8" drive shaft hub.
From my observations the easiest way to tell them apart is there are 2 slots on the smaller unit above the cavitation plate, on the larger there are 6 3/8" holes on each side. I understand that they are not interchangable.

I hope this helps some one in the future and saves them some time and money."
