"Hello Y'all,
Okay I figured out my motor is a '95. I have it running fine. When I originally set it up I just ran the oil in the tank for the gas. Well the buzzer annoyed me so I am bidding on a oil tank on eBay. The only problem I am having is to what wires do I hook the level wires from the tank to the engine. I can't seem to find any spare connectors. The only thing that I can find is a tan and black wire that are near the main big red round connector. I haven't received the oil tank yet so I am clueless as to what color the wires are. I know y'all can help. Thanks, Tony"

"That's the wires Tony. One tank wire connects to ground, the other to that tan wire."

"Thanks Joe. I bought a oil tank off of a guy on eBay. I just wanted to make sure that those two wires were the wires to hook the warning system up to. I appreciate yours and all the other peoples help on here. Thanks again, Tony"

"Notice that the tank wires are slightly different. One is usually completely smooth, the other has a somewhat design. It matters which one goes where but frankly I forget just what the different is.

If one has a ground, bolt thru fitting (grd), and the other has a knife connection, then the connection is obvious. Otherwise, hopefully, someone will jump in here with the proper setup."

"Joe,
I was speaking to the guy that is selling me the tank. He said the the operation of the warning is just a closing of the connection. If that is true then it should not matter since either wire would complete the connection through the circuit. I will hopefully get a wire bundle that has one brown and one black. Question for you, how do you know all this stuff? Thanks again, Tony"

"It's not a simple contact

"It's not a simple contact closure. There is a small amount of circuitry build into the sender on the tank. This activates the horn for the chirp every 2 minutes. If it were a simple contact closure, the horn would sound continuously."

"Dcramer,
Thanks for the info

"Dcramer,
Thanks for the info. I hope the tank comes with the correstly colored wires. Thanks again, Tony"

"Well I received the tank yest

"Well I received the tank yesterday. Of the two wires one of them had a eyelet for a ground connection. I installed that one to ground. The other I hooked up to the brown near the big red connection. I have not had time to test run it because I threw a prop on the second run of the boat. The remanufacturer failed to install a cotter pin when they mounted the motor. I did not notice it when I installed the motor. They are sending me a new prop but I will find out if they are sending the rest of the hardware to install the prop. Y'all have fun, Tony"
