"hi guys, I have an evenrude that it takes from 20 to a half an hour to start. After it start and then i turn it of. I then try to turn it on, and it turns on with out a problem for the rest of the day.
And this happens every time i use the boat."

"Year and HP would help. Most

"Year and HP would help. Most problems like you describe are either caused by a fuel issue, or related choke/ primer issues. I would begin with trying a new 6 gallon fuel tank w/ fresh fuel and a new fuel line/ bulb assy. See if that makes you problem go away."

Yes we like to know what model

Yes we like to know what model and year it is.

I cannot see why a new tank would help or why a new fuel line and bulb would either as it starts OK after the first time and presumably idles and runs well. But you are not using stale fuel I hope.

Find out what is wrong before randomly buying bits and pieces unless you have money to throw away.

Check clean reset or even replace the plugs is always a good first move. What do the plugs look like?
Have you checked the sparks? Good and blue and will jump 7/16".

It cranks Ok does it? If not then check and charge battery. If battery good and fully charged check and all connections including the negative.

Are you pumping the priming bulb before starting? Does that appear to be OK?

Check operation of the choke/ primer ... Don't know what engine you have so don't know what type it has!

Have you tried spraying some fuel mix directly into the carb intake(s)

"My experience with that issue

"My experience with that issue usually centers on old fittings on the fuel lines that cause issues with maintaining fuel flow. In my experience they leak enough to lose the prime, but not enough to leak fuel. Internally restricted fuel lines cause many problems as well. But his problem really sounds more choke/ primer related."

"Leaky fittings on the fuel li

"Leaky fittings on the fuel line, restricted fuel line or filter, non venting tank, even defective fuel pump would all case problems to the running motor to some degree but if the carb bowl(s) are filled using the fuel line bulb the engine should then start and run for a few minutes on the fuel in the bowl(s) and even be kept running by repeatedly pumping the bulb very probably.

I agree with you than a choke/primer problem is a very likely cause of the problem. That's why I mentioned it."

"Manually prime it with a squi

"Manually prime it with a squirt oiler filled with fuel/oil mixture. If it starts cold with a prime, it is definitely a fuel problem."

"Thank you guys, I will take a

"Thank you guys, I will take all these suggestions into consideration, do to that at this moment i don't know the year but i know that it is a 225 hp."

Good answers from these guys b

Good answers from these guys but if it a ficht or newer I might have another option that I have dealt with personally for the same thing if computer firing is involved.

"<font color=""119911"">"know that it is a 225 hp" </font>

I think that puts it between 1986 and 1999.

Earlier ones have carburettors and an electric primer pump. Later ones are fuel injected.

If its a carb'd model check that the primer pump is working.

If its fuel injected .. cant help!

Tell us the model number and then we will be able to look up the year."
