"Tuesday it runs good. Wednsday after rain all day we realize we left our fuel tank on deak, {Partialy Vented }. Well , now it runs like crap. We did not think water got into the tank but it did. We drained all gas from the tank. Put some OMC Fuel Cleaner in the tank. Still the same problem. It runs very strong to full power with the choke 3/4 closed. However , when the choke is pushed all the way in it wont run to max power without cutting out. I suspect I need to remove the carb and clean. Any advice would be great. Thanks. Chris."

"I don't think it is a carb problem. Check your fuel lines and primer bulb for cracks. If they are good, run it again (in the water) and attempt to run at full speed while pumping the primer bulb. If it goes to full speed, rebuild your fuel pump."

"All of my power equipment does the same thing-- when they have a half of a carb bowl full of water. I don't remember if the 9.9 has a drain plug on the carb bowl or not, but I would bet its got water in it. I would try and drain the carb before I did anything else."

"Thanks guys, I removed the carb and cleaned the crap out of it. I ran some wire through the main jet. Runs like a purring little kitten now. Time for an in line fuel filter."
