evenrude 88 spl starter problem

I have a evenrude 88 spl and have a short on the side of the motor. While in the boat looking at the motor the problem seems to be on the right side. There will be no power at key switch or gages then I can peck or move wires in the said area and the beeper will sound and power is returned to the switch. I haven't had a chance to look real good at it but does anybody know what would control the ignition switch and gages in that area.

Time to look at loose conections around the solenoid and the ground connection to the block.---------Make sure battery connections are clean and tight as well.

Also, one of the smaller RED wires leading from the starter solenoid contains a in-line 20amp power fuse that supplies voltage to the ignition switch. Very unlikely it is intermitent though.

I'm going back to the lake this sunday and I'll check it out then. I live about 1 hour and a 1/2 from where I keep my boat so that makes it kind of unhandy to work on.
