Hi Guys, new to this site.
Im after the head bolt torque.
Im replacing the head gaskets due to having water in the cylinder, can water enter from anywere else?
Do you need to put anything on the gaskets? like stag sealer etc?
pistons all look ok, bore is ok and I had even compression.
But the gasket looked suspect when I removed the right side.
Im a vehicle motor mechanic and doing the work myself on the outboard.
Cheers Basil

If the gasket has a shinny appearance to it, it's coated with a sealing substance. Don't put anything on it. If it's one of the older plain type gaskets, just coat it with oil.

Bolt torque is 18 to 20 foot pounds, tighten in the following sequence.

9....10
5.....6
1.....2
4.....3
8.....7

Water has been know to leak at the exhaust baffle plate area and also at the powerhead base and adapter plate gasket area.
