ESA how exactly do I bypass it?

Followed the steps exactly. My switches are good, adjustments are perfect. 85 5.7L Stringer. Frustrating as it is I prefer to wire around it at this point. Will bypassing the overstroke switch be necessary as well? Thanks in advance all...

The OMC ESA system is there for a good reason.

You do not mention what is frustrating you, so we are rather in the dark here!
Perhaps explain exactly what the issue is.

Since you say; "Followed the steps exactly. My switches are good, adjustments are perfect", I'd suggest that if you do have an issue, it may be elsewhere.

The problem is it sometimes stays in "stumble mode" at the most inconveinent times. I have tested and made adjustments in the water. I can sometimes pull back into nuetral and back to forward or reverse and most times it will central the switch back in the v.

Generally, the ESA comes into play when making a shift from gear back into neutral. Going into gear is usually never the issue.
Getting back into neutral can be very important when coming into the dock.
