Erude 9.9 lower unit hole?

This hole is leaking lower unit oil. It is on the opposite side of the fill and drain screws. I don't see any threads. Can anyone tell me it's purpose? Thx

I think that is a drain…allows water to drain out of the leg. Is it really “pure oil”? 2-strokes can often discharge oily water, especially after long trolling sessions.
Check out Leroy’s Ramblings, IIRC he has an article about gooey oily gunk, left over from running the engine, dripping out of the lower end.

I visited Leroy's Ramblings as you suggested and by picture and description to you are correct as it is a designed drain hole for water to escape. Thank you.
