"2001 3.0 mercruiser io. Have been hearing alarm sounding when underway. Have tried changing temp sending and warning switch. Also changed oil presure and warning switch.Manual said only oil psi, temp or gear lube possibilities so I also unplugged gear lube sensor.Alarm still sounding sporaticaly.Engine temp is normal at 175 when warm. Oil psi is 40.I am at the point of disconecting alarm system and watching my gauges."

As long as you're

"James.
As long as you're sure that the sensor is not picking up low lower leg lubricant,an erractic beep can also indicate a problem with the water pressure sensor. It usually gives 2 beeps rather than the constant sound of low engine oil, over heating, or low leg lubricant in the reservoir.
It may also be the IAC Module (same sound). A code scanner is the only sure way to pick off which one it is."

Thanks for info Bob.By unplugg

Thanks for info Bob.By unplugging gearlube resevouir That should rule that possiblity out.I was not aware that water I had a water pressure sensor and dit not find in manual.Do you think a problem with ignition switch is a possibility? The first position on key is a test for alarm sound. Thanks

"James. I read about the water

"James. I read about the water pressure sensor on the Bayliner Owner's site. I was also unaware of its existance. It may be on a specific engine (that was not mentioned), but I thought that it was worth throwing out there. It may just be that you've got a faulty sensor on one of the "known" locations."
