Engine wont turn over 2004 5.0 L

Alpha 5.0L w/ carb on a 2004 SeaRay 215 Weekender...

Its been sitting for a while. Charged up the batteries, even threw some starter fluid in the carb for good measure.

All I get is a "thud" sound with just a creep of movement on the belt. All the electronics work, so I'm thinking its somewhere beyond the battery.

Sorry if I sound like a bootcamp when it comes to engines, but all I know how to do is change the oil, plugs, charge the batteries, fill it w/ gas and drive it :)

Any suggestions would be helpful.

remove the drive, remove the plugs try it again, won't turn , remove the starter have it tested at auto zone for free.

Starter good, and won"t turn the motor then it's froze up and thee are a couple of things you can do.

Me i drain the oil put the plug back in, put the spark plugs back in and fill the motor to the brim with kero and let it sit for a couple of day's.

Then drain it and turn it with a socket on the crank bolt,

I would start with the battery and connections first. Are the connections clean and tight? Change out the battery with a known good one. If it still does not turn over then do as chiefalen suggests.
