"While I wait for the Mariner

"While I wait for the Mariner service manual to arrive to work out my problem, my fingers are itching and I need to get started. The engine was running fine while flushing it then after 15mins it just stopped as if the kill switch had been activated. Have good spark, battery and fuel the engine turns over no problem just won't fire.
If I was to test the 'kill switch' what do I look for and if I bypass the kill switch will the engine still turn over, before I start can I do any damage like this."

"engine size, year??
The blac

"engine size, year??
The black/yellow wire at the switchbox is the wire grounding the ign from the key. Remove it and the engine will not shut off with the key. You already said it has spark though.
I'm just guessing since we don't know the above."

"sorry JB, mariner magnum 40 1

"sorry JB, mariner magnum 40 1992. What I was thinking was, if you connected both wires from the Quicksilver kill switch (on control handle)together to basically make the switch 'on' this should make the engine start, providing this is the problem."

"It would be simpler to check

"It would be simpler to check for spark first. If you have spark the switches, wires, control box are good. No spark then remove wire from switchbox, then check for spark, then work your way back.
Have you checked for fuel at carbs, remove drain screw and pump bulb.

Second thing to consider, carb flodded engine. remove cowl, pump bulb, look at carbs. Any dripping fuel is bad. Could also have hole in fuel pump diaphram."

Plugs could die under compress

Plugs could die under compression... Find another set and try them too. Had similar issue with a motorbike... couple of hundred bucks later in the workshop for a $3 item...
