"Ok - I recently posted a mess
"Ok - I recently posted a message saying I wasn't getting spark. I have found that I'm getting spark now. I replaced the resistor, coil, points, cap, and condensor. But it still will not start. I have noticed that the flame arrestor has been getting soaked in gas after I crank it over. I pulled the flame arrestor off and found that during cranking, I have some gas shooting out of a port directly behind the small butterfly flaps (Center of the two). It has a rochestor quadrajet 4 bbl. I should state that I burned the started up during my tries at fixing. I have replaced the starter. But I'm not sure if I have the correct rotation starter now. Actually, Im not sure what starter I need and the old one is gone.
How can I tell which rotation starter I need?
How can I tell what rotation engines I should have? Especially if I have the wrong starter now.
Would the opposite rotation starter cause the gas to shoot up out of the carb when cranking over?
Engines are both mounted with the flywheel to the back of the boat. The port engine flywheel rotates towards the port (And runs great). The starboard engine flywheel rotates towards the starboard (With new starter). I have Velvet drives 2.91:1 ratios.
Additional help would be appreciated!!"
