Johnson 40hp o.b. with vro. Mod# J40ELCUD Ser# G 7421592
Mounted on Agressor Bass Boat 14 ft.
Boat used about 7hrs. since new in 1986. Been inside building since then. Rats chewed up VRO lines
and damaged oil res. Disconnected VRO and warning horn. Plugged oil intake with rubber plug provided.
Boat starts easily and idles with idle lever at all speeds. Revs easily with idle lever. Stalls a lot when
trying to engage forward or reverse. Once engaged engine will not turn up enough to get boat to plane. Engines sounds good but will not accelerate boat to plane. Original 6gal metal gas tank builds
up a great deal of pressure as noticed when removing cap. Also new gas line does not fit snug at
tank nor engine inlet.
You can tell I'm a novice. Help!
