Anybody know the complete wieght of a 1972 Ford 5.0 mercrusier with Manifolds, And the weight of a Alpha 1 gen1 drive and transom assembly? I am repowering with an Outboard and would like to know the weight difference?
 
The I/O no doubt weighs more than the O/B....... but keep in mind that the outboard will be cantilevered AFT of the stern.
And unless you remodel the transom, an O/B bracket will be needed, of which places the O/B even further AFT (i.e., more cantilever affect).

Replacing an I/O with an O/B can throw some boats out of whack regarding hull attitude.

I guess that if this same hull was originally available in either an I/O and O/B...... you'd be OK.
