"I decided to start up my 2004

"I decided to start up my 2004 Maxum 1800 3.0L in the driveway before heading to the bay and I'm glad I did. Battery fully charged with garden hose hooked up, slow cranking speed? I looked back at engine and noticed the engine water pump not turning and belt skidding along pulley. Disconnected belt and motor turns fine, pump won't turn. I'm getting the idea I should have done more than flush after last outting around Nov last year. I live in San Diego freezing temps are not an issue. Boating season is very long here, but I got going on some other things and the boat sat longer than planned. Did I hurt anything else? What should I do when extended storage is needed. I bought this boat as a repo and it didnt come with any books or manuals. I missed boat ownership 101 classes. Isnt it just a car that floats?

Hopefully you will just have to replace the circulation pump and go. I would give that a whirl and see what happens.
I think the recommended procedure after a bout in the salt is a fresh water flush for a few minutes. Better yet is a FWC system, but there are still corrosion issues associated with the exhaust manifolds and risers.

I will install a new pump this week and maybe I can get an idea of the condition of the cooling system while having the pump off. I'm worried about rust chunks. I always fresh water flush and this boat has quick disconnect block and manifold drains that I use faithfully.
