"Not sure what happened, I tried to post this earlier but it didn't seem to come up. Anyways I bought an 88 or 89 DT 25 this spring and haven't had any problems all summer until this weekend. Went out (motor started and idled fine) and after driving about 50% throttle for about a minute or two, the warning light came on. Read the manual which stated it could be 1) Low oil in the tank
2) Low oil flow
3) low water flow
4) high temp
5) over RPM

I filled the tank (since it wasn't quite full) thinking that was the problem but it still did it. The motor had water running through it and didn't seem hot at all or the water coming out was warm but not hot so I don't think it's the overheating. I'm almost thinking maybe it's the oil flow? Is there an oil filter on this that I can change...or if anyone knows where the oil sensor is? Any suggestions where to start. I would like to try and fix it myself before bringing it in to a dealership?"

could be that the oil youre us

could be that the oil youre using is too thick when exposed to cooler temps.

"no I still am not sure which one it is....there is the one part that has the oil line going to it and it has wires coming out of it, I haven't taken it apart yet though, wondering which one this is?"

"There is a vacuum switch between the oil tank and the pump (to alert you of oil restriction). Some year models they were serviceable later years it was just replace it. We used to get a lot of gelling in these sensors when customer would mix oil brands etc. (different additives reacting).Your year model also has a water flow switch which fails often, located on the cylinder head usually with a black, purple and green wire coming out of it. This will give you a constant alarm as well. Try running it the disconnect the bullets one at a time to see if the alarm stops. If this is your problem, they make an updated temp sensor without the water flow "flapper". It was such a constant problem Suzuki updated and deleted that feature."
