I have a 79 crect craft ski boat with a omc 350 RH engine and a velvet drive 1:1 mod.1017001,it smokes and has started pinging at full speed, this engine runs backwards compared to an auot engine, what all needs to be done to swap an auto engine init. I have a 383 stroker already that i had built for another toy i had but sold. can this be done with little headaches or not?"

"To reduce piston slap, the pistons are slightly off set--the piston pin is about a 1/16 inch to one side. Therefore they go in one way only, but when the engine turns the other way around, the pistons must be reversed or they will slap like crazy!

You're gonna have trouble getting a prop to hold with that 1:1 trans. You'll blow away the water withthat fire-breating monster and need a racing prop.

"71c gear is rated 310 H.P. may be simpler to reverse the gear and replace prop, than reverse the engine. they can be set up to rotate either direction. still will need to marinize engine though."
