could anyone tell me if it is

could anyone tell me if it is possible to replace my AQ131 with a fuel injected B21E engine. If so can the marine parts from the 131 be used as is the same engine but for the injection or can the manifold along with the injection system be fitted to the 131 as I am fed up with carbs. Has anyone attempted this and can anyone see any problems.
Cheers

"First off, the system would be required to meet USCG criteria.
Secondly, would be fuel metering, of which is not same as marine use.
Thirdly would be the camshaft profile, of which will be incorrect for marine use.

Ya got some hurdles there before this should be done.

"Thanks for the reply, maybe the webber conversion I considered last year would be better. The existing carb just does not inspire confidence, I want something to give me a bit more out of the hole power & smoother starting & running. The compression on my engine is spot on but starting from cold can be tricky. I have already fitted the breakerless ignition last year and to be honest did not think it made much difference just thought if the injection system would work it might be worth a try. Also had problems at the end of the season with plugs breaking down. 2 sets in 10 hours."

"I don't think that the pointless ignition would give a performance boost. More of a way to reduce maintenance and maintain dwell since there isn't any wear from the points. What do you mean about the spark plugs breaking down? Were the electrodes eaten away? I'm not a mechanic so not sure why that is happening. Is it possible that the starting resister is allways in the loop now and that's what's increasing voltage? Possible coil, plug wire, or wiring problem? That may also have something to do with your performance issues.

The Weber carb mod is allways a possibility but a little spendy. Your existing carb doesn't have a choke so will, of course, be a little finicky for the first few minutes. If you're having response problems, it might be time to break down and rebuild the carb as well as look at the electrical end. Clogged passageways, weak diaphram, and misadjusted linkage can cause problems."
