In October I was attempting to crab on MD's eastern shore and my '90 Evinrude 48 spl spat the fuel line at me then refused to start or even turn over, where should I start? As it was in the shop 3x (carb dirty=$800+) this yr and I am broke, hungry to fish n crab. Thank you kindly.

Spat the fuel line at you? I have no idea what that means. Take some time and go into detail, describing exactly what happened. We need to be able to visulize what you're saying in order to help.

Sorry! While motoring to each of the crab pots the fuel line which runs from the plastic tank to the engine, the line was thrusted/blown out from the connection to the engine. i turned around to see why the engine cut off and noticed the connection between the tank and the engine was off or disengaged. When i reconnected the fuel line the engine wouldn't even turn over, as if the battery was not giving juice to start it. I started rowing in, because i did not know what to do, other than to get in. Thank you in advance for the knowledge and sharing of information.

Okay.... The engine ran out of gas initially is what you're sayiing. After which you could not get the electric starter to crank the engine over.

I assume that it was the plastic fuel connector that disconnected from the engine, OR did the hose actually fall off the connector?

I assume you reconnected the fuel line. Did you once again pump up the fuel primer bulb until it got hard?

Did you return the throttle control lever back to its neutral position? If you did not, then the neutral safety switch took effect (disengaged) inside of the control box.... a safety feature to prevent the electric starter from starting the engine in gear. Sometimes one needs to wobble that throttle lever slightly in order to have the safety switch engage.

If you did everything properly and the electric starter still won't engage, perhaps you somehow blew the power fuse. This would be in one of the smaller RED wires leading from the starter solenoid. The fuse is just a few inches from the solenoid... a short 20 amp fuse.

Let us know what you find.
