Engine size ranges

Mercury Marine refers to "mid to high" horse power engines. What range of HP fits into this range?

That kinda depends on the "era" of the motors.

There was a time when 30 thru 75 horse was "mid-range" (25 and below was often called "portable").

I believe now Yamaha considers 30 thru 90 horse as "mid" and Merc considers 25 thru 115 "mid-range".

So high horse is generally over 125 horses, but Evinrude/BRP considers their 130 ETEC a "mid-range" motor.
