Engine Scan Tool - Recommend

2004 350 MAG MPI

What is the purpose of a scan tool, e.g. is it only good for problem engines?
Is there different scan tools for different engine systems?

Whats a good non-professional all purpose scan tool for this engine?

(I assume the documentation associated with the tool provides the meaning of the codes, how to hook it up, etc.)

I figure maybe learn how to use it now. Thanks

The scan tool lets you 'look inside' of the ECU....

The RINDA products are the industry standard.

My opinion is you need the factory service data to make full use of a scan tool.
