Engine quits at low rpm

After my first run of the season on Saturday, we took the boat out yesterday and noticed a slight reduction in rpm while running at about 3000rpm. After that it seemed to run ok, however as we approached a low wake area, we depowered to 1500 RPM and then the engine quit. I restarted it in neutral, but when I lowered the RPM, it quit again. I filled the boat in the fall and added Startron as instructed. I do expect an ethanol issue. I installed a new water separator filter but it made no difference. Should I add Dry gas? Is there water in the carberator bowls? If so how do I remove?

Thanks for your help.

if water is in the gas you need to pull the top of the carbs off and dry out the bowl. You can try adding an additive, but usually that doesnt work. You can also check the cap and rotor, sometimes the moisture corrodes them. Low compression will also cause a motor to not idle.
