found water on my #4 and #6 spark plugs but no water in the crank case. pcv tubes are full of white stuff. may need new exhuast need help??

No expert here, but I believe that if the water is on top of the pistons but not in crankcase, then the main suspect would be riser/manifold problem, or possibly a cracked head.
Be advised that before any of the more expert people on this forum tune in to help, they are going to want to have more info.
Year and model of engine and drive.
Fresh or raw water cooling.

despy is right. Since #4 and #6 cylinders are neighbors I would perform a compression test on the engine; the problem may just be the head gasket or intake gasket. If the compression is good then start looking for a crack in the exhaust manifold.

if your compression is within spec I would suspect the gaskets on the risers might be allowing water from the jacket into the exhaust and down into the cylinder. my friend had a omc 5.7 that was doing the same thing and was just the gasket between the riser and exhaust manifold
