Engine no start on a 1991 Johnson 120 VRO

I have a 1991 Javelin F/S with a 1991 Johnson 120 VRO, model number is VJ120TLASB with a no start, no spark condition. I have taken the kill switch out and made a jumper to by pass it. And I still have no spark. What do I need to check now?

Also I had a problem with the tilt/trim, it would go up but not down. I could hear the motor running in up position and down position both. I removed the plug and I still couldn't get the engine to go down. I went out to take a picture of the model number and had to turn the wheel to get the engine moved so I could take a picture and low and behold the tilt/trim started working up and down again. Any idea what caused this. I've raised it and lowered it a few times and it's worked every time.

Thanks,

When you removed the kill switch did you connect those wires ??-------If so you should disconnect them and test for spark.

The kill switch functions by breaking contact with the powerpack's kill circuit. If your statement of "making a jumper to bypass it" means that you re-connected the wires together... that would simply put the kill switch into action permanently by having a straight ground contact of the powerpack's kill circuit (No Spark!).

Well dang, I should have known that! I will disconnect that jumper I made and try to start it.

Thanks again, Didn't start but it's hitting. Thing the battery is weak, Don't get to play with it much and I have to stop and let the battery charge.
Due to the gas tank having water in it, I dropped the gas hose down into a 5 gallon gas can, can't get the bulb to pump up and get hard, possibly
the reason it didn't ever completely start and run.

Thanks again for the help,

Yep... If you can't get that fuel primer bulb to get hard and pump fuel to the engine, that'll do it. :)

Note that the engine has to crank over at least 300 rpm with the electric starter in order for the stator to energize the powerpack (ignition).
