I have recently bought a Johns

I have recently bought a Johnson 200 HP 1985 outboard.While looking for the model number a found a S/S plate attached to the carbs with the number 392604E 175HP 27.FI. Is this the model number as I cannot find another number on the engine. I have searched this site but cannot reference this number. Any useful info will be appreciated. The engine number is A038786 which I have not confirmed yet.

"Look for a small plate on the port (left) transom bracket (bkt that bolts eng to boat) that would have the model and serial number imprinted.

Also, there should be a core plug (looks like a small freeze out plug) on the powerhead with those same numbers imprinted."

"Hi Joe, Looked all over and could not find model number. The core plug only has the engine number on. I spoke to the previous owner and he said it is a 175 hp block which was reconditioned to a 200hp. He said the modelnumber is (392604E 175HP 27.FI). I still cannot find any reference to this number in the parts catalogue. Does anyone recognise this number?

that is the old omc part numbe

that is the old omc part number for the carbs.with the airbox off you can look in the throats of the carbs and there will be a measurement stamped into the carbs by using that number you can tell what hp the carbs go to.
