Engine info

I just bought a Inland seas boat. It has a Chris Craft engine in # 86297. I'm trying to figure out the year it was made and any other info about it.

If this is a GM SBC, and if a production model engine, the engine serial number should be stamped into the block just forward of the 2, 4, 6, 8 cylinder side.

The Hot Rod forum guys are very good at identifying these older SBC's, or they can certainly point you in the right direction.
