Engine idling fast

I'd had my boat out on blocks for a couple months and finally got it back in the water today. My port engine didn't start up right away and needed a bit of pumping of the gas to start (it hadn't been like that before). But then seemed to run fine after I got it going. I then took the boat back to my marina, about a 2 hour trip, and when I got to my destination, the engine idled high, around 1300 rpms. Normally it was around 800. What should I be looking at?

Thanks for the reply. I went out for an hour today and couldn't replicate it, everything worked fine. The cables at the carb were functioning properly yesterday when it was occurring. I'll look for an intake leak.

The spark advance stuck in hte advanced position on you.

Remove the distributor cap and rotor, put a few drops of oil on the shafts (below the rotor), then put the rotor back on. Next, flip the rotor back and forth a HUNDRED times or so until it springs back smartly on its own. Then put the cap on and go boating.
