"I have a friend who needs a larger engine for a '56 Century Coronado and came across these engines for sale. They are supposidly from a '74 CC but we would like to know what kind of engine they are, ie Chrysler, Ford, Chevy, etc and what type of transmission is attatched.
Thanks.

"Look like Chevrolet Small Block V8's to me. But as far as size, I would almost say they were 350's.

The Rocker Covers are the Give-away.

Can't assist with the Transmissions though.

"If the distributors are in the front of the engine, they're Fords... SBC distributors are in the rear."

Not on all Chevy engines espec

Not on all Chevy engines especially Chris Craft motors the Q series which I think these may well be because of the placement of the remote oil filter have the distributors located in the front because of the flywheel forward design. If the fuel pump is up there next to the oil filters then I darn near guarantee they are Q's.

Also notice that all that plumbing for the cooling system in the rear of the motor where you would normaly see that at the front. and by the way the transmissions look like they could be HF7 model Paragons but very hard to tell from the picture. By 1974 Chris Craft was using GM blocks almost exclusively but they were known to use things left over in the warehouse from time to time. They could be either 327's or 350's if they are Q's I would bet on 350's.

"those motors are defininely GM motors the Q series which started in 1968 are 307Q 200hp,
327Q 230hp, and the 350Q 235 hp. those flywheels are foward and with a Mallory distributor probaby single point. I have a 307Q in my 1972 Lyman (glass). there should be an ID tag on the exhaust manifold, telling what size the motor is. somone changed the valve covers because the model and HP was decaled on the valve cover (MODEL 327Q HP 230)
hope this is of some help

The motors that are in the pic's might be the CC hi performance eng's. 350Q 350hp Donzi boat co used the high performance eng. The rocker covers are the Corvette LT series rocker cover GM started using in 1969. Just another thought that came to me . After looking at the Pic's again I see the tags on the exhaust manifolds.
