I've been trying to figure out exactly which engine is in my boat. The serial# spreads make no sense. I stood on my head down in there and the number is F306805 on the tag. Is it a 305? Is it a 350? I'd show a picture of it but I can't get it to upload?????

Ayuh,..... That's a late enough serial number that the displacement is probably cast into the block, on the aft block flange next to the casting number, or into the port side of the block,....

I will look for that on that rear flange. Also maybe something on top of the R/H water pump inlet. I also need a starter motor for this engine. It has a dead spot that I can get it to spin if I smack it with a hammer. I don't know the part # of the starter. There are several choices. I'm going to pull the starter and look for a part # on it. I will probably have to put it back on while waiting for a new one to ship. That is gonna suck to to do that! I need to get this thing in the water for a shake down cruise before a family vacation in 2.5 weeks.

Ayuh,...... Chevy starters only come in 2 basic flavors,.....
The straight across bolt pattern for 12" flywheels, 'n the staggered bolt pattern for the 14" flywheels,....

Buy one of the new permanent magnet starters, 'bout 1/2 the weight, 'n 'bout twice the power,.....
