I recently bought a 1973 glastron mercruiser I/O, 165hp. I took out and ran great until engine got hot. Took it home immediatly and messed with it, was going int gear fine, fwd and reverse.i then changed the thermostat, and bought kit for water pump. After putting lower stern back on, it fired up and temp was staying within normal range. I put in reverse and prop spun fine, but when I put in drive, it stalls immediately, didnt matter if I slowly gave it gas, or quickly gunned it. No weird grinding noises, just dies. I just got it last week and don't have a manual yet, I ordered one a couple days ago. Figured I would get on here and see if anyone could help. I have read a lot about the shift interrupter, but it seems that it should die in reverse or fwd, mines only having problems when put in drive. Thanks guys.
