Engine die's going into neutral

I have a 1996 Bayliner with a 5.7L Mercruiser, carborated, with an Alpha I gen II drive. The problem is that most the time I take the boat out of gear (forward or reverse, it doesn't matter) the engine dies on me.

Any idea's would be appreciated.

What is idle in gear on a warm motor ?

Around 650 is good.

If good then watch the micro switch on the shift converter, does it stick closed ?

Ayuh,... My 1st guess is, yer lower shift cable is failing, 'n needs to be Replaced...


Btw,... Come on Al,... Quit being an azzwhole....
