"Check for problems such as -

"Check for problems such as -

Clogged tank vent
Clogged fuel filter(s) - as equipped

Check all fuel lines for leaks (sucking air etc)

Try pumping fuel bulb - if that keeps her going the fuel pump is on the way out.

If all else is good, remove, disassemble and clean the carbs - they may be gummed up or have a big cootie lodged in the jet(s)"

"Prolonged idling is not good for an engine that size. It could be heating up. My guess is it is loading up, since it needs throttle to restart. What is happening while giving more throttle at start up is more air is allowed into the engine. If the engine is flooded this air helps clear the cylinders. I'd check the condition of the spark plugs when it stalls. Look for signs of flooding or a rich running condition (wet, dark color or oil build up on plugs)."
