Engine cuts off after running for about 30 seconds 5.0, 305 CID 2001 model

My 2001 bayliner suddenly will not stay running for more than 30 seconds. Once is stops you can start it again right away and it does the same thing. There is an alarm when the key is turned on but I thought that was normal as it always came on until the boat was started. There is a sticker by the shifter that says Alarm will sound when Engine Oil Pressure too low, Engine Temp too Hot or Drive Oil level is too low. As soon as engine turns over and starts the alarm goes off.

Things I have tried include pulling carb and doing a partial rebuild. Installed new Water/Fuel filter and made sure no blockage in fuel line. I guess it could be a fuel pump but because it does the same thing and works fine for 30 seconds then I don't think that is it. Is there some sensors that will shut it down (oil pressure, drive oil level)?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Ayuh,.... There's an oil pressure Switch that powers the fuel pump, mounted right next to the gauge sender....

I'm guessin' yer switch has failed, or the wires are corroded...

It's mounted down low, mid-block, portside...
under the exhaust manifold on the bottom edge of the block, just ahead of the filter boss...
 
Not sure which is the oil pressure switch but I jumped the one that has two purple wires. Did the same thing. I then pushed everything together and moved the one wire lead and then tried it again and now it runs! New problem is it now runs awful. I noticed when I turned it off that gas continued to run into the carb (I rebuilt part of the carb myself). It flooded it and now it won't start again. I think I had a bad switch but now have something wrong with the carb (float or something like that). I will pull it off again and see if I can identify the problem or have it professional rebuilt. Thanks for the responce and a good description of where it is located and I think that if the carb was OK that my problem would be fixed.
